WRAP-IT Study Update

Results are now available for WRAP-IT: World-wide Randomized Antibiotic EnveloPe Infection PrevenTion Trial.

Sponsored by Medtronic, the team at Newcastle were one of several sites in the UK to take part.

The study showed adjunctive use of an antibacterial envelope resulted in a significantly lower incidence of major CIED (cardiac implantable electronic devices) infections than standard-of-care infection-prevention strategies alone, without a higher incidence of complications.
