Fundraiser swims 21 miles and raises over £1000 for NECTAR

Catherine Richardson completed the amazing feat of swimming 21 miles (distance of crossing the English Channel) in 12 weeks and raised £1,008.50 for NECTAR in memory of her cousin James.

Catherine wanted to raise the money in memory of her cousin James who sadly passed away in September 2017 due to a heart attack at the age of 37. James was a very active person who loved the outdoors which is why Catherine was inspired to complete this amazing swimming challenge. Also in 2015 Catherine’s father suffered two heart attacks Catherine and her family were told he was extremely lucky to be alive. Catherine said “It took a lot of recuperation and time but we are forever thankful to the Freeman Hospital and the work they did and care they provided.”

Catherine has raised the funds to support the research we do in Cardiovascular Research to advance treatment options and improve health outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
