Biography
My specialist clinical interest is the treatment of chronically occluded coronary arteries and acute coronary syndromes. In addition, I perform left main stem angioplasty, rotablation, intravascular ultrasound, OCT and pressure wire, and established a renal denervation service for patients with drug resistant high blood pressure.
I qualified in Medicine from Leeds University before completing my research PhD and higher specialist cardiology training at Edinburgh University. I then trained in interventional cardiology in Toronto before taking up my post at the Freeman.
I am the Trust’s Director of Research and Development and have a passionate interest in making research more accessible to patients.
My goal is to integrate research into everyday clinical activity as a way to improve the care we offer and to ensure the latest medical developments are accessible to patients in the North East.
